Camila Torrano

Camila Torrano Hello, I'm the Butcherlady (or Camila Torrano).

This blog contains illustrations and photos from my portifolio. Human anatomy studies, blood, terror-related-stuff and some other non-sense things.
Hope you enjoy it!

Hello everyone :D
I’ve been working a lot, mostly on things that cannot publish here ¬_¬…

Aaand, in the meantime, I’ve visited an old hospital! Actually, it’s the third and coolest one I’ve sneaked in and took photos.

This is Hospital e Maternidade São Marcos (Brazil). It started working during the 50’s and was closed in 1995. Now it’s called Condominio Cultural, where the rooms are used as working places for various artists. One of those artists, Cesar, a good friend of mine, invited for a visit at a Saturday night - just the perfect time for some ghost hunting!

Surgery room: many of the rooms are now ateliés, but this one remains almost intact. I’ve been informed it’ll soon be transformed into a sound studio :(. I’m glad I made that visit…but I need to go back there one last time, I absolutely loved it.

There was this creepy mannequin right at the entrance, almost in the dark. I was scared it was going to scream and have its head torn off by some invisible evil force (Silent Hill 3 feelings).

Medical stuff: an guest artist made sort of a intervention in one of the rooms. She filled it with abandoned objects and medical supplies found there. Lots and lots of glucose and some thiopental.

Also, there’s a register of all the patients treated there during 1956. They were mainly working class women going to give birth. You can see a medical degree from the 40’s and a decapitaded saint.

At the end, my self portrait inside the surgery room where someone left a mirror.

A night to be always remembered :)
Thank you, Cesar!

"Your art is amazing! It makes me sad to look at tho cos I don't think I could ever be as good as you lol <3"

Thank you so much for taking your time to look at my art and send me a message, that was quite lovely! Thank you!

But please don’t be sad. Art demands practice, study and dedication. Getting better at it isn’t impossible, trust me :).

Another fanart + making of!

This time, featuring one of my all-time favorite games: DOOM.

My parents used to control what my brother and I watched on television and only many years later bought our first video game (Nintendo 64). They rather see us playing around, reading or drawing. Curiously, they’ve never complained much about the graphic violence we saw when playing DOOM, Heretic or Duke Nukem at my cousin’s laptop, they even laughed with us when Duke Nukem was peeing. I think they were as amazed as we were when watching the pixels moving. Also, they’ve probably noticed that we didn’t take it seriously…

Anyway, time’s passed, games got bigger and better, but I’ve never stopped playing DOOM 2. I still love the graphics, the pixels, monsters, music - everything. It reminds me of great moments from my childhood/ teenage years, so I thought it was about time to make a tribute.

Hope you like it :)

Hey everyone! I’m sorry for the lack of updates, the past month were quite stressful due to some problems, but everything turned out okay :).

Last month I was invited by Maíra Valentim to show a step-by-step of my creative process to the site NimboCG. The result is a fanart of the splicer Lady Smith (from the game Bioshock, which I’m crazy about).

You can CLICK HERE to see the tutorial!

It’s in Portuguese, but you can get the idea just by looking at the images. Enjoy!

Link, you’re a monster!
I was invited by SPJam’s crew to imagine a game I’d like to play and create its cover, to be printed and glued to an Atari’s game cartridge.
The main reason I started to play Zelda: Ocarina of Time was because I once watched my cousin playing it and realized that Link could not only interact with the characters and objects in the scenario, but also catch, throw and attack the Cuccos!!!
Until then, the maximum of interaction in games that I’ve seen was Duke Nukem peeing and paying girls to see their boobs. Those Cuccos attacking Link were really mind-blowing!
I had to do it in a rush due to other projects I’m already working on. Thanks Jose Omar for the invitation!

…a break from Rule of Rose’s girls.

I present you Lisa Trevor, a character and enemy from Resident Evil series (RE1’s remake).

It’s been a while I don’t draw monster/blood things, yesterday felt like it was just the perfect time to look back at the subject.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did when drawing :).

Diana, the Strong-Willed Princess (or the Dutchess), another character from the game Rule of Rose.
Looking at all the fanarts, cosplayers, etc, I’m quite sure she’s everyone’s favourite crazy girl. Deep down inside, we’re all attracted to the most cruel, heartless and sarcastic characters from the games we play - and it’s no different towards RoR.
From Rule of Rose Wiki:

She is very devious and cruel, even toward the other members of the Aristocracy. She often adopts a nonchalant attitude and is uncaring of the thoughts of others. She is the object of affection for Meg, and seems to be the eldest of the orphans.

Check out Meg’s fanart.

Hello there, it’s been a while :)!
Here’s Meg, the Wise-Looking Princess, one of the twisted little girls from the game Rule of Rose.
From Wikipedia:

[…]
Below her in rank is the intelligent Meg, who recites the rules and protocols of the Aristocracy, as well as invents the devices used to punish members of the hierarchy. She adores Diana despite her cruelty towards her.
I was looking for inspiration to warm-up doodles when this game and its characters came to my mind. It has a great 1930’s atmosphere and Art Direction, complicated storyline and, unfortunately, one of the most terrible controls I’ve ever tried.
Every single girl from the Red Crayon Aristocrats is annoying. I promised to destroy all of them during the gameplay…until that incident with the Stray Dog. I felt terrible for them and about my feelings towards those kids. They’re really mean.
Hopefully I’ll have the energy & time to draw all of them, let’s see if it’s possible during my vacations.

As you have probably noticed (based on my last posts), I’ve been practicing other skills by painting scenarios. Also, I’m planning a comic adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood.

The first one is obviously what I had in mind for the forest/ Grandma’s house, drawn on paper and colored in Photoshop. The second are the main characters, painted with Ecoline on watercolor paper.
